International Network Services Completes Acquisition of Lucent Technologies' Enterprise Professional Services Business
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, July 31, 2002
SANTA CLARA, CALIF. - International Network Services inc. (INS) today announced it has completed its acquisition of Lucent Technologies' (NYSE: LU) enterprise professional services business. The agreement was originally announced on July 3, 2002.
As part of the acquisition, INS has retained the existing management team of Lucent's Enhanced Services and Sales division (ESS) and established an independent professional services company focused on the design, integration and operation of enterprise networks. Lucent, which had already integrated the consultants for its service provider customers into Lucent Worldwide Services, will continue providing networking professional services to its core service provider customers.
David Butze, formerly president of Lucent's ESS division, has been named president and chief executive officer of the new company. "We are all excited about the tremendous opportunity ahead as INS expands its capabilities, resources and expertise in the planning, design, implementation and optimization of the most complex, business-critical networks in the world," said Butze. "Our employees, our customers and those involved in following the services industry are looking forward to a rapid implementation of INS' new business model."
"As INS will continue to operate with many of the same methodologies, systems, customers, and engineers -- as well as under the familiar INS name and slogan -- it should again become a competitor to watch in the enterprise network services marketplace," said Christine Tenneson, Senior Research Analyst at IDC.
The new INS, which is headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., will provide industry-leading networking solutions to enterprise customers, including some of the world's top financial services, pharmaceutical, aerospace, energy and transportation companies. The company has strong multi-vendor expertise based on its design of thousands of solutions across all major enterprise networking technologies and products. The company will provide network consulting and design services to customers in major markets across North America and Europe. For more information on INS, visit its Web site at http://www.ins.com.
